He was picked up during the first round by the Alouettes on 1998 CFL draft. He won 90th, 97th and 98th Grey Cups with Montreal in 2002, 2009, 2010 gaining the title of the Grey Cup Most Valuable Canadian in 2002 and 2009. At the beginning his number was 32, but he carried the number 86 for almost his whole career.

All time leader and CFL Most Outstanding Canadian; Ben Cahoon has 1,017 receptions and 13,301 receiving yards, 65 touchdowns, and 666 Grey Cup receiving yards in 224 games. Cahoon was known for his amazing flying charges to catch the balloon; those were part of him on all the games, but besides been a great receiver, he also is a great kicker, in 2007 Cahoon kicked a decisive game winning 22 yard field goal in overtime to get a 30 27 victory over the Toronto Argonauts while replacing Damon Duval who had been ejected from the game.

Ben Cahoon in conjunction with Quarterback Antony Calvillo, made an unstoppable machine. Both players were nominated CFL Greatest QB WR Combo of All Time the receiving skills of Cahoon and the Strength of Calvillo were crucial to get this machine working at the best. Cahoon broke the record of 1,006 receptions of Terry Vaughn; catching the 1,007th from a direct pass from Calvillo in the 4th quarter against Calgary Stampeders on October 11th 2010.

Always on time, even when he wasn't fast enough, Cahoon always had a natural eye to spot the openings in the field, being one of the toughest receivers to have played in the CFL, his body used to get all kind of punishment while making all those acrobatic catches for the Alouettes when those opportunities presented.

With these and more records on his account after 13 years, Ben called a career on January 26th 2011 announcing his retirement. Ben applied for a coaching job on his alma mater at Brigham Young University and this past February 1st it was announced that he became the wide receivers coach for the Cougars Coaching Staff.
